Hey everyone, Just signed up today! :)

I currently have Virgin Broadband @ £18 p/m, I have had this since October 2005, I was just wondering if there is any deals that VM could do for me as I think this is a bit steep for the speed I am receiving, I will call them, but just thought I'd ask for your opinions first.

Thanks
Neil :)

I phoned up retentions & had a new deal for £16 a month I now get 10mb (also pay £11 for Phone / TV). It was called the "Sweet 16" deal. http://allyours.virginmedia.com/websales/product.do?id=15157

Just go to http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/bundles/index.html or http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/specialoffers/index.html & see if you have any package there. Phone up & say as a loyal customer you wish to get a better price.

I was paying £15+ more a month for the same package,

Size M is 2Mb. Paying by Direct debit would reduce the cost to £17.00.

I have always paid by Direct Debit, and always paid £18. I shall be having words with VM.

Sorry cablecrazy I'm having a bad afternoon and I'm giving duff information I'm sorry. The £1.00 reduction is for paperless billing not DD.

I really hate calling up pretending to cancel, just to get a better deal, has anyone got any tips when phoning them?

Thanks Ernie, though I did notice and correct my post it's nice when a fellow member watches my back, especially on a day when everything I touch seems to go wrong. Maybe I had better refrain from posting until I've had a coffee.:D :tu:

Personally I don't have the bottle to try to force VM's hand. I just phoned up to check that I was on the best deal possible. I ended up getting a reduction because I had been on an old package for years and not getting the best value for my money.

The reason im a little wary about this, is beacuse I called sky to 'cancel' my sub as it was to expensive, (i pay 54 pm,) they simply said 'ok your cancellation date is .....'' i was so embarrased, i had to call them the next day and said i changed my mind, I dont think have EVER called VM about anything in the 3 years Ive had their services.

Ok ring VM, go to the option to Leave VM. You will get a UK staff member (not the Indian team). Just say you've been with NTL / VM for xxx years & now with the Credit crunch things are tight. You saw the offer of Sweet 16 online & wanted to switch to this LOWER price. (may be tied to a 12 month deal, so check that out first).

No threat of leaving. Not too hard to ask if you can switch to Sweet 16. I know they can do it as I had it 3 months ago

I just asked them if I could bundle my phone and BB and mobile together. The bloke went away and came back and knocked me about 15 quid off. No threats needed although I did mention, in passing, that other companies were doing bundled deals :-)
