You clicked the refresh button on your browser. No VM cable modem is capable of even nearly that speed.

:D That can not be on a VM modem :D wow now that speed would be nice before they put a limit on it :D

Nope last popped on here couple of weeks ago and have since rebuilt laptop otherwise would be in complete agreement with you, repeating from source however does settle things down lol

Repeating from source does bring it down to about 18.5

weird

By any chance u use kaspersky?

Why would Kaspersky come into it?

It's not a silly question, as we use K. and I've been geting abmornally high(ish) readings reacently. 11.5mb for our upto 10mb connection.:)

Test 2: 1024K took 450 ms = 2275.6 KB/sec, approx 18751 Kbps, 18.31 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 1041 ms = 983.7 KB/sec, approx 8106 Kbps, 7.92 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 2127 ms = 962.9 KB/sec, approx 7934 Kbps, 7.75 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 25178 Kbps, 24.59 Mbps

I posted the above figures in September (http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/19/33638118-browser-cache-help-needed-please.html) and having had no success in getting a realistic speed test result despite clearing the cache gave up trying to sort it out. Cheered me up no end to see that I was almost running at the speed of light at one point.:D

Last month, fed up with my trial version of Kaspersky nagging me, I changed over to Avast and by coincidence, or so I thought, the CF speed test gave me believable results.

Wow what a connection speed! its infinite I think we should all believe these speeds as we are faster than Japan:rofl::rofl::rofl::LOL:

1st 128K took 0 ms = Infinity Bytes/sec = approx Infinity kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 0 ms = Infinity Bytes/sec = approx Infinity kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 0 ms = Infinity Bytes/sec = approx Infinity kbits/sec
4th 128K took 0 ms = Infinity Bytes/sec = approx Infinity kbits/sec

These results appear to be rather fast: maybe this page was in the browser cache.

I haven't used Kaspersky on the PC for a while, but it might be that the anti spyware facility is either messing around with the Javascript that does the speed test (some do), or it is caching the files.
