I've recently being upgraded to 20Mb, and when I say recently, I mean within the last hour. The speeds I'm getting won't go over 11Mb. I've tried restarting the modem. What's the link to see what speed your modem can handle? I saw it before, but I can't find it now...

I had already tried that, that just tells me I'm already on their "super fast 20Mb broadband".

I'm using a VM modem, I recieved it just after our 4 was upgraded to 10. It just says 256 on it, so I'm going to assume it's an Ambit.

The 256 is the current Virgin Media Modem and thus does 20meg speeds.

Virgin Media 256 (from February / March 2008)

The 256 model will be yet again supplied to Customer specification by Ambit ( www.ambitbroadband.co.uk (http://www.ambitbroadband.co.uk/) ). From the outside it is identical to the 255 model, but features a revised Broadcom chipset, the BCM3349KFBG

This modem is still in a black Ethernet only housing, and is still "Dual Mode", and will be deployed across the whole Virgin Media network, including the ex-Telewest platform.

Does support 10 and 20 Mbps Tier of Service, is capable of 40Mbps+

Note: this modem will not support the 50Mbps service that Virgin Media has announced for launch in late 2008.

Ah, thank you! When I get home I'll try directly connecting to the modem.

Ah, turns out my router can't go over 11/12Mb using wireless. Hmmm, last time I bought a new router it all went wrong... Best place to buy a Linksys?

I have 20mbs but was getting about 13mbs, had a Surboard 4100. After reading this on Saturday night I raised a cal on the newsgroup. Got a new 256 modem today and am getting around 19mbs (modem website speed tests). Very good service but they let themselves down by not doing that when I moved to 20mbs.
