just tried a site that i have log access to, no IP other than mine connected to it at the time i did, nor did it set any cookies. no global phorm then...

the webwise.virginmedia.com uri does not resolve either, faked headers pasted?

www.virginmedia.com doesn't set any cookies for me, so no phorm there either...

no such url of webwise.virginmedia......

hovering over the link it looks safe, clicking it took me to here:
http://guide.opendns.com/?url=webwise.virginmedia.com

oh but wait, what is that a few links below that might suffce, lets see what the first one takes us to...... follow the little white rabbit and all that.
http://webwise.phorm.com/virginmedia_webwise_pilot.php

oh but what does it say.....

Virgin Media Webwise Pilot
Virgin Media is evaluating the Phorm system to understand in more detail how the technology works. Virgin Media is some months away from making a decision on implementing Webwise, as it is a technically complex application which could be implemented in a number of different ways. It may be that, as part of the evaluation process, Virgin Media will want to test the technology among some of their customers but they are not currently doing so and they have stated that they will not conduct a trial or pilot without individual customers' prior consent. Moreover, should Virgin Media eventually decide to roll out Webwise, customers will not be forced to use the system.
For more information on Webwise pilot tests, visit the http://www.virginmedia.com/customers/webwise.php website.
Customer participation in Virgin Media Webwise will always be open to choice, and Phorm's privacy policy ensures that it's easy to switch protection options on or off.

so clicking the link and this says:

Dear customer
You may have heard that Virgin Media is currently working with a company called Phorm about the possible introduction of a technology called ‘Webwise’. Webwise is designed to help customers avoid scam e-mails or websites while, at the same time, making sure the advertising they see matches more closely their specific areas of interest.
Some customers have raised concerns about this technology and, in particular, whether it threatens their privacy by monitoring what they do on-line and the websites they choose to visit. As a result, we want to be as open and honest about what we're doing and clarify exactly what the state of play is in relation to any possible implementation of Webwise.
Virgin Media has signed a preliminary agreement with Phorm to understand in more detail how this technology works but we have not yet decided if it will be introduced. Webwise is a technically complex application which could be implemented in a number of different ways and it will be some months before we can confirm if the service will be made available to our customers and if so, how and when it would be deployed. Customer concerns around privacy and data protection are (and will remain) an important element of this preliminary evaluation and we will not roll out Webwise unless we are completely satisfied that in our view it complies with applicable data protection and privacy regulations.
It may be that, as part of the evaluation process, we want to test the technology among some of our customers but we are not currently doing so and we will not conduct any such tests without individual customers' prior consent. Moreover, should Virgin Media eventually decide to roll out Webwise, customers will not be forced to use the system.
In the meantime, we'll continue to communicate our intentions openly and transparently. If we go ahead with deployment, we will let all our customers know before rolling out the Webwise solution and will clearly explain how the system works and what it means for them.

so are you trying to start a war??????

I hope your facts are really correct before posting stuff on the phorm as it is a sensitive subject........

but to clarify, I dont want it, but I am not jumping the gun just yet and I am willing to let them test it on the system not on me, but if it gets forced then I will force my way out of VM, but please stop trying to force this as true

Hmmm, seeing as Phorm debates have been done to death and this is misleading at best and doesn't add anything to the debate I think closing the thread is probably the best course of action.
