Please don't ask for modem levels etc this that and the other. Cause this is clearly not my problem.

Call Tech Support and they can check your connection.

If it's clearly not a problem with anything at your end then the best thing that you can do is call VM.

If you're sure there's nothing wrong with your modem, and nothing wrong with your computer, then there's little that anybody here can do to help and little further advice that they can give you.

Just saying 3 tests solid 2.4 mb connection and i know speedtest sites aren't all that reliable but i'm just gonna wait it out if it doesn't go back normal later on i will ring them up.

bit dodgy though don't u think.

btw my modem levels are out i think but it gives me a solid 10mb connection so whats not broken don't fix it.

So yeah it sucks lol

Just wanted to see if anyone knew about an early morning STM or anything like that.

from the screenshots above thats clearly not oversubscription in my eyes anyway

more tests.

Modem levels are out on downstream but that you are pegged at bang on STM'd level for upstream and it's so consistent suggests pretty strongly that you're STM'd.

Find out from TS if you are being traffic managed as seems likely. Considering the reports of people finding themselves not managed when they expect to be it's certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that VM are having a play with the traffic management or even that there's bugs in the code which have recently come to light.

Load of crap i say they should get it right with something as serious as STM

---------- Post added at 11:03 ---------- Previous post was at 10:58 ----------

Btw nyone got a link to were the down and up speed stm'd i nkow that i get 128 k up isn't it supposed to 192 on 10mb?

Kymmy
29-09-2008, 11:12
It's 75% throttled which equates to 128k, 20Mb STM'd upload equated to 180-190Kb

They are throttling out of hours.

Hi Jillian,

It would appear you have been STM'd outside of the monitoring period, I have raised this up to be investigated for you and requested that you be moved back to the correct service as soon as possible. The reference for this issue is F000808194.

this is happening all too often now and shouldn't be going on. the times of STM are set and shouldn't be activated before the start time.
you wouldn't get off peak and peak times going wrong on your phone calls, so why is STM any different. is it because it's not activated by a person downloading over their limit, but activated randomly when it's needed on an overloaded UBR?
yes.

The strange thing about this is that support are saying that they can remove the STM from the persons connection. where before they said that if you are STMd they have no way of removing it!
so looks like if you are STMd incorrectly they are able to remove it when you phone them up. and I bet they say they have no way of doing it.

There is a bug in the Cisco IOS that causes a small % of out of window triggers of STM.
It is fixed in 12.3.23 version of code which as I understand it VM are planning to deploy ASAP.:)

Hi Zenith.

Congratulations to Virgin Media on becoming the top match on google for 'Subscriber Traffic Management' firstly. Yep above the Cisco page on the feature which is sandwiched between Virgin's own page and the abcde page about Virgin's implementation. Great achievement for the 'truly unlimited' service with no fair use policy.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=subscriber+traffic+management

I have a suggestion on how to resolve all these issues.

3 steps:

enable
configure terminal
no cable qos enforce-rule <name of rule>

Repeat for all rules.

Bingo, no more out of hours, or indeed in hours STM.

yes.

It would be nice if it were only activated when needed on an overloaded uBR.

Capped again.

Woohoo according to http://www.virginmedia.com/help/traffic-management.php

10mb customers can download 2.4gb and basically upload as much as you want as there is no upload threshhold.

plus i cannot even download 2.4 gb in 20 minutes so wtf? this ain't no bug can't be they have secret stm in place lol which they aren't telling us about.

Call and ask if you're being managed, no-one here can fix it, we can all speculate but until you check with VM, speculation is all it is.

As far as I can see, the tests show 11:30, so from 10:00 to 11:30 you have one and a half hour, through simple calculations on a 10 mbit connection you can download roughly 4.4 gbytes for an hour. Why do you think you should not be STMed? Any records of how much have been downloaded? And, by the way, MIND YOUR LANGUAGE! Thank you.
