Stanford School of Engineering (California, USA) are providing free online courses in a number of areas:

This fall, SEE launches its programming by offering one of Stanford’s most popular engineering sequences: the three-course Introduction to Computer Science taken by the majority of Stanford undergraduates, and seven more advanced courses in artificial intelligence and electrical engineering.

This looks interesting and worth doing. What do they gain from it though?

They say they want educators everywhere to use their material free of charge etc etc

I guess it's a self learning progrmamme and you woulnd't get a certificate or anything at the end?

Nope, no certificate as far as I can tell. You also can't use the courses to gain credit for any of their qualifications.

Cool, Got it downloading in itunes now so I should be able to listen to a lecture or 2 per day on my daily commute.
