Hi all, i am based in Bracknell RG12 area, my Dad lives about 100m away from me and is gettig 7mb speeds on a 20mb connection

Im getting 4mb speeds on what i think should be a 10mb connection

I have an NTL Ambit 250.

Here are my findings any help would be appreciated

Cable Modem Operation Configuration
Network Access : Allowed
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 4096000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 400000
Maximum Upstream Channel Burst : 1600
Maximum Number of CPEs : 1
Modem Capability : Concatenation Enabled, Fragametation Enabled, PHS Disabled

Cable Modem : DOCSIS 1.0/1.1/2.0 Compliant
Boot Code Version : 3.1.6d
Software Version : 2.94.1014
Hardware Version : 1.19

Downstream Lock : Locked
Downstream Channel Id : 7
Downstream Frequency : 331000000 Hz
Downstream Modulation : QAM256
Downstream Symbol Rate : 5360.537 Ksym/sec

Downstream Receive Power Level : 1.2 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 33.5 dB

I have tried with and without the router same speed, have i got 10mb connection or is it still 4mb ?

Also does anyone know if this area RG12 has been upgraded yet ?

Also when i go into Network connections and double click on LAN its saying speed is 100.0mbps ? what does this mean /

Sorry for all the q's

Thanks Kevin

The above shows that you are still on 4Mb, your power levels are spot on as well.

The LAN speed is the maximum rate that the Network connection can transfer data at, nothing to do with you package speed.

Post your dads data as above.

Yes the Docsis will change to 204800 after you reboot your modem.

The NTL 250 is capable of 20Mb.

ntl:250
The ntl:250 is again supplied to ntl:'s specification by Ambit, and is both Ethernet and USB, and "Dual Mode". It is smaller than the predecessors and also has a stand for vertical mounting, plus lower power consumption.

Does support 10and 20Mbps

Email him this link http://192.168.100.1/ and if required the Username and Password are both root.

It should work, as that is the only address we use.
