ash, can I ask what you mean by "upgraded"?

What did you have before? If it was 4Mb, the upgrade to 10Mb is being rolled out throughout the UK (for instance, my area of Leeds was upgraded earlier this week).

what site or sites told you that you was getting 4mb speeds
also what does your modem config pages say
http://192.168.100.1/CmOpConfig.asp root root as password or user if needed
max up & down also look at the downstream & upstream areas
example
Downstream Receive Power Level : -1.8 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 33.1 dB
upstream
Upstream transmit Power Level : 50.0 dBmV

try here for speedtest
www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk

the upgrade you mention probable is the free one from 4 to 10
some suggest use of the tcp optimizer will improve results if using XP

the website says this for bristol
http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/existingcustomers/faster/schedule.html
Bristol area
includes area's Bath, Chapelton, Hawkfield, Nailsea, Trowbridge, Cheltenham =TBC
so your guess is good as mine

it is new but being rolled out region by region but your area not been done yet is reason for 4mb speeds still

In simple terms 4MB and 10MB are both Broadband package L, some areas have 10Mb, others have 4Mb, hopefully by the end of summer all of them should be 10Mb.

The CS person should have told you that but as usual they're more interested in getting the sale/Upgrade!!
