Wireless router for 2 meg broadband (please help)

Hi all! :D

I have absolutely no understanding of wireless routers so please bear with me... and if you're kind enough to help me out please use simple language :)

So, I've bought a modem spitter and I really want to be able to connect a wireless router to the internet downstairs, for use with my Nintendo Wii.

And my (probably stupid) questions are:

Do routers need to be connected to a computer? (I'd rather it wasn't)

What routers are compatible with Virgin?

What routers are compatible with Nintendo Wiis?

How do I know what speed it will be? (Ideally I want it to connect at 2mbps)

And lastly, how do I password protect it?

no the router just needs to be connected to the cable modem
all cable routers are make sure it is cable and not an adsl one
the conention speed will depend on signal stength of the wireless
that would be done via the web interface on the router whcih is accessed via your computer

Here is a link to PC World Cable Compatible Routers from £14.97 any router can be used with your Wii and the is no need to connect a PC to it unless you want to. When you set it up the software will prompt you to set a secure password.
