Have Virgin changed the news groups available on their servers?

I have re-updated the group list and all groups disappeared only to be replaced by a list of groups all starting virgin....

No groups not related to Virgin?

I get them on that server or news.ntlworld.com. The only groups available are those listed here:

http://www.virginmedia.com/customers/newsgroups/listings.php

The only server in use now is news.virginmedia.com.

I am logged into the news server now and have all the groups including the binaries

Wow, awesome, that worked an absolute treat!

The only other thing to mention is that I had to remove my username and pass, from the old ones which I used with the ntlworld address.

Thankyou very muxh!

been using Virgin's newsgroup server for the last week, and as pretty impressed - seems to carry the groups I need

tempted to get rid of Giganews now and save £ 15 per month

7 days is generally going to be enough retention for me

and if I need more, I'll buy a block from Usenet-News for those where I require up to 100 days

I wonder how long it'll be before VM totally drop thier news servers anyway...

It's all the rage in the states for ISP's to discontinue thier news servers with RoadRunner and Time-Warner (do they still own AOL) dropping thier NNTP service from the 23rd June.

How long before VM discovers that they can save on Bandwidthm and server space :(

thought they outsourced to highwinds now rather than using their own sytstem?
