View Full Version : Confused!
Hi all :)
I am on Virgins 4 Mbps cable broadband package.
I was told this will be upgraded to 10 Mbps.
Using a range of speed tests I am currently getting around 6 Mbps.
Other virgin customers at my postcode are getting the same results.
Is this a very good 4 Mbps or a very poor 10 Mbps?
Confused!
Thanks

Do you have a router?
Have you checked to see if your area has the speed uplift?
As above, do you have a router and has this been restarted along with your modem if your area has been finished?

That's not what I was getting at regards to the router tbh, but if they are getting 6meg speeds then it stands to reason their speeds have been increased but the router's WAN port might be 10meg half duplex and not up to the job

Or are you connecting via USB?

Probably on an over subscribed UBR,no point ringing them they'l say your getting over 4Mb and the upgrade was free.

Hi guys :)
Thanks for the replys!
I guess I should have supplied this stuff in my earlier post.
I have a Netgear RP614 router (wired)
A NTL250 cable modem connected via ethernet (not USB)
I will try your suggestions and report back.
