Just been trawling through You Tube trying to find little video and music clips for our youngest to enjoy. He has special needs and it's one of the few things that brings him joy.

Anyway there was I fiddling around and I came across Supertramp's Crime of the Century :)

I was instantly tramsformed back to my youth - long hot summer holidays after the exams with that album (esp. School & Dreamer) on my old Trio record deck being blasted out the window for everyone to enjoy!!

Happy, happy, happy days - the music made us happy not aggressive.

Made my day that has :D

Used to (still do a bit) love Supertramp - saw them live in the Deutschlandhalle in West Berlin, when I was in the RAF; still sticks in my memory as a great concert.

Great stuff - Supertramp are one of those bands that I found almost subliminal, a friend gave me a 'Best of' compilation, recently & I couldn't believe how many of the songs were instantly recognisable. :tu:

- did your lad like them too, Osem ?

Nah - he was more into Perry Como and Frank Sinatra :)

I on the other hand had an older brother and sister heavily into the likes of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Cream, Genesis, Yes etc.

My favourite group of the time though was Jethro Tull - Iain Anderson is a genius!

Now, I am 15 and I have NO friends with similar taste in music, in fact I have similar music taste with my friends parents than my friends themselves! They like all this new stuff; Eliot Minor, Medina Lake or whoever there called! Am I the ONLY one in this position? I swear Ive been born in the wrong year!

Good for you Luke - I was only 11 when I started listening to this stuff properly way back in the very early 70's .... Happy days :) When you're an old git like me you'll still smile when you hear this stuff!!

Well Of Corse! All the music these days I guess is just industry orientated! I can't STAND any of it! It's just not music! It's not creative! My Mum luckily got to see Rory just before he died infact, lucky woman Ã‚Â¬_Ã‚Â¬. My mum's all ways recommended the Old Grey Whistle Test, I am pretty sure good old Thin Lizzy are on there, ha ha another great thing to come out of Ireland! The Stones were on it aswell if I am right in thinking that? And many more! I am sure my mums got it all on video somewhere!

I think blues does it for me to be honest, faster blues like B.B.King Albert King Freddie King Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher etc, and all the bands that followed and were influenced by Blues like Led Zeppelin. I think my music genre genrally stops after about 1980!! :D A few exceptions to the Rule have to be motorhead though, Rainbow, Thin Lizzy. I would say Deep Purple but they became TERRIBLE after Stormbringer album!! =[

No 'Stones' on OGWT, but BB King, Freddie King, Steppenwolf, Gary Moore (With Thin Lizzie), Humble Pie - are all represented ..

I agree about 'the blues' and many John Mayall, Cream, etc tracks I have endorse that - but I hope you also consider the 'derivatives' - Hendrix, Zappa, Captain Beefheart, etc, all put their own character on top of the 12 bar basics :)
