Hi all, new here but i require some assistance with a quick question. For a good month now my broadband speeds have been awful, im currently on 20Meg and lately i seem to be lucky to even hit 10, Just done a test from this forum and heres the results

Wed, 14 May 2008 12:31:56 UTC

Test 1: 1024K took 1500 ms = 682.7 KB/sec, approx 5625 Kbps, 5.49 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 1610 ms = 636 KB/sec, approx 5241 Kbps, 5.12 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 1359 ms = 753.5 KB/sec, approx 6209 Kbps, 6.06 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 2656 ms = 771.1 KB/sec, approx 6354 Kbps, 6.21 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 5857 Kbps, 5.72 Mbps

Now when i first signed up to the 20Meg service in November last year i was told it would fluctuate but rarely go below 15Meg, now its sat at nearly 6.

Any idea's what could be causing it to be so slow?, I hardly download stuff, just the odd demo / Game or trailers from PSN / XB Live

Your UBR is most likely over-subscribed. If your using a wireless router then remove it and connect directly to your modem and see if that helps.

If not ring tech support and they will tell you if your UBR is maxxed out !

Thanks for the speedy reply, yes its wireless but the odd thing is i have just started to download a demo from Gamershell and its downloading at 2.21MB/s, so im guessing the speed checkers are wrong?

Download this TCP Optimizer (http://www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe) and set to 20000

ok, an auto optimising program, now how do i see if its made any difference,

BTW it only seems to be my Laptop which is slow, My PS3 downloads fast, the missus' laptop downloads at the 2+MB/s, even my desktop PC downloads at 1.7MB/s.
