Hi!

I am on a 20 mB cable connection in W11. Last Sunday suddenly all DNS servers disappeared and I had to reboot etc.. A check at the modem log showed that VM had upgraded some software in the modem, see below:

After this upgrade my speed is capped to 3 mB !!

I had an engineer around Saturday morning and he confirmed that a big system upgrade took place last week and another software upgrade should take place this weekend. I checked my modem log today and yes, some similar software upgrade took place Saturday afternoon. The engineer told me that after the upgrade VM personnel will drive around to all exchange boxes with a laptop and reset everyone back to the speed we pay for?!? He couldn't give me a time frame for when this should happen. He also claimed the Kensington cable Internet area had been down for 3 days recently for the same reasons.

Can this really be accurate??

Have anyone else heard about this upgrade and had their speed reduced since this took place?

The indian support teams don't have a clue and I cant believe VM will drive around and manually check all customers connections..

regards

I should maybe add that my upload speed is not affected, around 850 kB/sec, which is normal for a XL connection. Also, maybe I should add that I always had great download speed at an average of 20 mB/sec until this VM system upgrade activity.

It was a billing software upgrade that happened, the log is normal.

Apologies but the engineer was wrong
