Im apparently on 20mb (most I get is 5mb)....the upload speed is getting worse. It was like 700+kb per sec last month. What's going on?

Are you 100% sure you are on the 20Mb connection ?

Could you please go here : http://192.168.100.1
(login and password are both ROOT)

Click on operational config,if you are on the 20 Mb then you should see this -

"Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 20480000"
"Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 768000"

If your not getting those then your still on the old 4Mb connection and it's time to phone cs.

P.S.

Speedtest . net is notoriously unreliable. cableforums own speed test(at top of screen)
is rather a good measure of speed. or try http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/

What part fo the country you from? Have you checked whether VM are doing any maintenance in your area?

Have you scanned your pc for adware, malware, viruses etc?

What speeds do you get during the day? In particular, before 4pm?
That speed test is suspiciously close (tho' a little low) to an XL connection while STM'd.

I've noticed it is faster during the evenings...I've never done a speedtest during the time mentioned.

Only EX-NTL customers only at present have to use the login to access their modem config screens.

When the EX-Telewest side start sending out the new Ambit 256 will they be required to login to the modem but only for that model.
