I know speed test don't give you a true picture of your speed, but here are my results today

Fri, 4 Apr 2008 11:49:07 UTC

Test 1: 1024K took 2141 ms = 478.3 KB/sec, approx 3941 Kbps, 3.85 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 2781 ms = 368.2 KB/sec, approx 3034 Kbps, 2.96 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 3578 ms = 286.2 KB/sec, approx 2358 Kbps, 2.3 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 9907 ms = 206.7 KB/sec, approx 1703 Kbps, 1.66 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 2759 Kbps, 2.69 Mbps

I also downloaded 4 test file at the same time, then added the transfer rates together, as mentioned in an other post, the result gave me a download rate of 812KB/Sec. Are any other people having the same problems out there. I know I have not been shaped, my modem is connected straight to the computer. But i seem to be getting this sort of speed or sometimes much slower all the time. Has anyone got any suggestions or is it just due to virgin over subcribing there system.

I'm in ST6 which is well known as one of if not the worst area in Stoke for over subscription and problems.

The above speed is common throughout the day as well as at peak times, and the engineers acknowledge that the problem is out of their hands.

( i know speed tests do not give a true picture ), so here is the total download speed of 4 test files 2 from virgin test files ( http://nettest.virginm.net/ ) ans 2 from zen ( http://fuller.zen.co.uk/test/ )
the total speed i got was 3.286 mb/s.now i don't want to seem stupid but should this be closer to 20mg/sec. could someone please post the figures you should get if the 20me connection is workin fine, before i get on the phone to tech support. thanks
