this is ment to be 4meg,

usually good, traffic shaping would make it 1meg not a 1/4

any ideas what i can do to improve speeds

Rebooting your modem. Turning off file sharing programs. Connecting your PC directly to your modem, as opposed to via a wireless network. Deleting temporary Internet files.

Check for Adware/Spyware and Viruses.

Just the usual run of the mill stuff. Failing that contact TS on Virgin's newsgroups.
