hi all
I'm upgrading my Virgin package to 3 for £20(TV,Landline Phone & keep my existing broadband) as my 2mb broadband will go up to £18 next month anyway as my 12 months is coming to an end so I thought why not, but although I contacted them by email they never got back to me and don't fancy a 15 minute chat on my mobile to a moron for £2 odd trying to work this out without a logical answer. I had a BT line 4 years ago but I got them to disconnect as I was not using it, can they easily connect me back up and keep my old BT number.
Thanks:)

If the line and socket are still in your property than BT can easily just turn it back on. As for keeping your old number, I don't know, it depends if BT have assigned it to someone else.

Personally I've spent longer on hold to BT trying to sort out a friend's internet connection in one day than I have ever been on hold with VM/ntl/C&W in 10 years.

I just wanted to be prepared for when Virgin comes round on wed 26th to install my new hardware. I have a V-Box and a phone line to be added to my package. Do I have to get BT to turn it back on first? or does Virgin take care of that for me, I was talking to virgin employee earlier and I may as well been talking to a brick wall and got nowhere I'm afraid.

Yes I have spoke to them they phoned me, i really dispise people who interfere with other people's posts..WHY do you do that, what satisfaction can you gain? IF you find my post irratatating or annoying do something else more beneficial to you. I use this wonderful website as an avenue to gain knowlegde and hope I get a great response which I did until a someone like yourself makes a pointless time consuming remark that makes you look like you need a hobby. Whereas I use the internet for gaining useful information. In conclusion I have seen all sorts of irratating, racist, degrading, abusive, illiterate, obnoxius behaviour from other users on the internet but I have better things to do than reply to a complete stranger that the post is not directed at me...the mind boggles!!...5,000 posts of cache no doubt!!, now the thread has probably collasped thanks to you.

In all fairness I think Marge had assumed from your original post that you hadn't contacted them as you did not suggest anything to say that you had. You only mentioned that you had emailed them.

Anyway to echo the post above. You will be able to keep your number IF BT haven't assigned that number to anyone else. Have a wee chat with BT and see what they say and I hope you get it sorted out! :tu:

Like I said tonygee your original post didn't state if you had contacted VM by telephone or had been contacted by telephone or not.

I think you will find that there are tons of people on here willing to help you and others out, and no doubt you will find some posters like Marge defending VM CS Advisors when people make comments like that, without fully stating the whole scenario. In this case I am sure Marge would of made a helpful post had he/she known the full facts. You never know, he/she may work for VM.

I am sure that if you had mentioned that you had already been contacted by VM following your email then Marge wouldn't of made that comment and would of been more helpful to your needs. Sometimes comments like that are a wee bit uncalled for. I am sure that every member of this forum has had a bad customer service experience at some time or the other and has dealt with a 'moron' of some form. It happens.

Anyway, it's an easy mistake to make and like I said I hope you get everything sorted out. :)

Virgin can only port a number over from BT if the the BT line in question is still active. As you have disconnected the BT line then there is no number for VM to port across.

BT may well be able to reconnect the BT line and give you your old number back but don't forget it will start a new 12 month contract with BT. If you were then to port the number over to VM within the 12 month period, BT would apply disconnection charges to your account.

I'm sure it'll be fine I will phone on Tuesday at work, I was trying to be rest assured before that time as I am not socialising tonight and wanted it off my chest as was concerned with this issue. I have nothing against marge or anyone else for that matter. I'm not quite 'getting' this moron situation. I called a virgin staff member a moron and I think of many harsher words that could describe the after service I aquire from them. I just take a dislike to 'busybody's" or "jobsworths"...I'm sorry but thats the way a feel about that. Anyhow I appreciate all your help, many thanks!!

Reading post #1 of the OP it is clear that there is a disrespect by the OP that can be applied to any call centre staff that might be unfortunate to pick up the OP's call. :dig:

On that basis I wonder why tonygee expects any help from this forum's members

Please avoid generic application of terms to wards staff that are unfounded.

I totally understand your point of view but how about a private message so I can see your opinion in private and act accordingly but a private message would not get you a pat on the back from your peers now would it. This reminds me of the many years gone by when people enjoyed throwing stones at someone until the death in public. I really did not expect such a response by using the word moron regarding a virgin member of staff which was pretty tongue in cheek anyway.

It's quite normal to take a pop when your paying for a service I'm sure you moan about your wages & your Satellite provider etc.? I also never realised anyone would take offense to this I presumed we were all consumers and "in it together", I never realised it was Richard Branson's love child I insulted anyway I'll go away now and join another Virgin forum where I can view my opinions honestly without the fear of being insulted. Ten years on the net and this is a first. This site has a
"closed shop" feel to it. I totally missed the point of what this forum is all about and for that I accept that was as an error of judgement on my behalf. All the very best x
