As the title says im reading a Downstream Power Level: of 0.3 dBmV. The stickied thread says +/-3 dBmV so is mine too low?
Thanks
Adam
n.b. im with VM...typical.
The range is normally reckoned to be OK from -2.5 up to +2.5 so at +0.3 you as near perfect as you can be.
The SNR should be in the high 30s to 40ish on downstream.
Then mine must be really out of range? Downstream Receive Power Level : -5.1 dBmV

new levels across all networks are now for digital devices is 0 to -10 -5 is the ideal level.
I think you'll find they are -12 to +12
I should have put optimally between -2.5 and +2.5 and with a caveat that it is based on fairly old information.
There is no doubt that most modems will operate perfectly way outside of those ranges but +11's or +12's are entering a range where questions need asking. My Ambit 200 was showing levels (downstream) in the high 11's but the status page was inaccurate compared with the engineers meter. His reading was +14.5 and was rapidly corrected with an attenuator.
Correcting high power readings is a simple and fast fix but pointless unless parameters are entering a fault zone and difficulties are evident.
