Connection upgraded yesterday, but high pings

My connection was upgraded yesterday, and I am getting vary results from speedtests, with poor pings on speedtest servers and some other sites.
the one on the forum shows :-

Test 1: 1024K took 2641 ms = 387.7 KB/sec, approx 3195 Kbps, 3.12 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 2656 ms = 385.5 KB/sec, approx 3177 Kbps, 3.1 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 2750 ms = 372.4 KB/sec, approx 3069 Kbps, 3 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 5328 ms = 384.4 KB/sec, approx 3167 Kbps, 3.09 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 3152 Kbps, 3.08 Mbps


But Speedtest shows a higher speed :-

All of thes have a high ping, though when I ping from my router I get 23 ms to bbc.co.uk. (pcguard is blocking me using ping or tracert, but when I switch off pcguard ping is around the same. Tried the speedtests with pcguard off and similar results to on.)

I am using a linksys wrt54g router v 2 at WRT54GV2_v4.20.8.cfg


MTU is set to auto and is 1500.


Not sure what :- notice TLV-11 - unrecognized OID means in the log.

Any one any ideas ?
