really weird, usually get 14 on wireless,
the internal wireless on this is on 54g tho, but shouldnt throttle that much should it?
You would be doing good getting 14 wireless.
Getting 8356 kbps is about right when wireless.
I have yet to find a router that will give more than this when wireless.
8 to 10 is about the most you will get when wireless.
That router shouldn't have problems with 20Mbs....
Is the firmware up to date? Link (http://kbserver.netgear.com/release_notes/d102982.asp)
Are you sharing a channel with other wifis in the neighborhood? Get this (http://www.netstumbler.com/downloads/)
Change channel, if that's the case. Check the noise levels from microwaves and mobiles in various channels.

I have a 54g netgear router and I get 20M through wireless. However, if I turn bluetooth on with my mobile phone it drops to about 5!?
most routers round here are on channel 1 or 11, im on 6 and it wont let me change it cause its set to Auto 108mbps, unless i have it on b and g only, then it will let me change the channel, stupid thing! and yeah the firmware is up to date
Try it without the router. This should give you the answer one way or the other.
i have done, i know its a router prob, but its only up till now, ive like reset it and all that... but i dunno, never mind :)
I get near enough full speed over my wireless on 20mbs.. having said that it's 100% signal as my flat is so small it's barely worth having!
Looks like a good place to mention that certain virgin suppllied netgear routers do need a firmware update to achieve 20mb - however I can't remembe which model and noone has told tech support but it is on the virgin website somewhere but I can't find it.
This looks like netgears fault not Virgins however as they write the firmware.
