This problem is occurring more often: when i turn on my pc i have to reboot my sacm - pull the plug at the back and the plug out of the router, wait a min and then put them back in and then hit the 'repair connection' button and its back again. Its happening nearly every time i turn on my pc, it never used to happen and i've not changed anything on my system. I seem to remember seeing a query on here about it but cant find it, or know if it was answered.
Thought it may be summat to do with my firewall, but tried several and it still happens. Googled it but no joy so any help would be good cos its becoming rather a pain in the bottom!

Do you have a Belkin router?

If yes check here www.virginmedia.com/belkin

If not have you tried without the router.

Are any lights dropping off the cable modem?

Is your ip address changing?

Are you using a Wired or Wireless connection?
Have you got the latest drivers installed for your NIC?

Modem lights up as normal on start up but get the 'limited or no connectivity' and 'invalid address' in the local area status box, so whip out the plugs and then re-plug and when modem settles hit repair and it connects. Wired connection and latest drivers. Happens about 75% of the time. Got to be a router thing surely? - will do some more tests at the weekend without the router.

i had that problem with a NTL Home 250 modem and that router, i couldnt solve it but it seemed to drop out at or around midday everyday.

The only thing i ended up doing was swapping the router for a netgear one and i didnt have any problems until last december when my modem started to conk out and when it was exchanged for a Virgin Media 255 its been ok since.

It is more than likely a router issue but I have seen things like that happening with wireless connections and problematic wireless card drivers.

Have you tried setting the router back to factory defaults and configuring it again?

buy a netgear one.

I would never advocate a Netgear product, they are trying hard to be good and they are certainly better than Belkin I would still say Linksys is the way to go even with the problems with this particular product.

WRT54G FTW

WRT54G L or S models, are superb. Esepcially if you want to change firmwares etc.

The standard WRT54G was great up until model 5 where it became pretty average, but still, better than a lot of competitors.
