Hi guys,
Im using a surfboard sb2400 and my downstream power level is 8dBmv and checking the sticky thread about this, seems to suggest its too high, also my signal to noise ratio is 37db. What effect would this have on my service ? Also i cant seem to see anywhere within the modem software page that shows what my maximum download speed should be.
Also for the last couple of days the wireless network keeps disconecting and if i refresh network list it doesnt show, but then after about 30 seconds it will magically reappear and reconnect, could this be a modem problem also or the router ?
This is my speed test, does it seem ok ?

thanks in advance.

What area are you in mate? Different areas apparently use different signal levels. When I contacted virgin last time i asked them what the ideal signal level is for me and they said anything aroun 6-8 is the best..As for your speed test if your supposed to be on 4Mb then it looks fine to me.

Bolton Here by the way...

The other problem sounds like your router might be on the way out....

yeah, it is a 4 meg service. Router is buffalo and is only a few months old. I unplugged everything last night for a few hours and it seems to have sorted the disconnecting/reconnecting issue for the moment. Im in Bristol by the way.

If the problem persists with the router then just make sure the firmware is upto date. Sorry I don't know about the bristol area but your speed test does seem ok...
