hello, sorry if this is a silly question but how do I find what area/proxy I am in? I have always presumed I was in Bolton area but iv noticed my proxies switch alot from Farnworth to Bolton in the past. If it helps I am in a town between Bury and Bolton called Radcliffe, Also throught the past week(maybe 2) iv been experiencing quite a considerable drop in service.

On the 20 mb line but speed tests show no where near.

Click the `connection` link in the dark blue forum header bar above and this will bring up a new window with what UBR you are connected to. Info in box should look like this if your on ex-telewest and a little bit different if ex-NTL (my IP address has been blanked out)

Connection Information
You appear to be on a Virgin Media Connection
Your IP address is **.**.**.***
Host **.**.**.***.cable.ubr01.brom.blueyonder.co.uk

Then go to:

http://help2.virginmedia.com/help/getContent.jspx?page=h_internet_advanced_dns

and look it up in the list at the bottom of the page.

Hope this helps

Guess im connected to Bolton then as I have the same:

cpc3-bolt7-0-0-custxxx.manc.cable.ntl.com

Could not find Bolton or Manchester in those region codes but that cant be for te hold of the country as many areas seem to be missing.

I guess its a possability its not an area problem if your are achieving those speeds, Just did irishisptest.com and got 10 mb just now? Maybe I am getting seriously traffic shaped? I do have 3 computers hooked upto the 20 mb but I was only on during the speed tests earlier. Could I please know how much the downlaod limit is in peak times and when exactly are peak times? This could let me test somethings ;). Dont think im a heavey user though but all 3 computers mainly consist of watching youtube videos, online gaming and browsing the net. Had fingers crossed over a few weeks now hoping things would get better but they never seem to do. Personally I have never seen my connection hit its full 20 mb in months :(.

Thanks for your help :tu:

cable.ubr01.dunb.blueyonder.co.uk

I have checked http://help2.virginmedia.com/help/getContent.jspx?page=h_internet_advanced_dns but the UBR for dunb is not listed
Where is this one?

Does anyone know what area I am in?

spc1-bexl4-0-0-cust192.asfd.broadband.ntl.com

I'd like to know so that I know when I'll be getting my 10mb upgrade :D

I also have some terrible download speeds. I am on the 4mb plan but I have never got higher than 2mb, it's usually 1mb. I'm currently using a Samsung 2100c STB but Virgin is coming round to replace it soon.
