Sorry if this has been posted before but this morning I got a letter from VM saying they were upgrading me to 10mb for free (well, same price as 4mb). Anyone else getting this?

When would the en9 area, just off the M25 get this? Anyone know? :)

I cant understand VM's mentality at all, why bother sending all these cards out with 'go here for more information' links only to find nearly all areas are listed as TBC...
... why not start sending out the ads once say 50% have dates allocated?

They want to hit the headlines to support their adverts I suppose

...a bit like New Labour... then you wait and wait and wait to see if the announcement actually bears fruit...

If they hadn't you would have lots of people on here going 'When are Virgin going to announce a 4Mb upgrade. They are ripping their customers off' etc

Rock and Hard Place really ;)

Thing is I got mine last week, if not the week before...

Its crackers really, especially when you consider that Harrogate was one of the last to get the updates last time around...

Good for you, chrisjones.

Still on 4mb here in NW Leeds, but no worries - it happens when it happens.

YES you will!

The Samsung boxes are only capeable of a max of 4Mb, so a nice shiney new modem will be needed!

I agree. When feeling impatient for your 10mb Chris console yourself with one word: FREE.

To be honest im not actually bothered when the upgrade happens, it was more a question of VM's policy towards announcing something they cant actually announce... if you get my meaning.:dunce:

so i gave them a ring and the man on the end for the phone tells me i will be ok up to 20mb on my cable box , then i looked it up on the web site and that shows me that i do need you update my modem . i give up . !!

I know what you mean :). I suppose they felt it best to give customers the heads up as it's good for marketing and customer morale (or at least you'd expect it to be!). I can imagine the forum being full of "I've heard Virgin are giving us upgrades, why won't they tell me at least something about it?" comments otherwise. It's a cruel world.

Not really fair, I reckon. When I first signed up with ntl (a few years ago I'll admit) I paid 35 or 37 quid for 512kbs. So I reckon 25 quid for 4MB is pretty darn good, never mind the free upgrade to 10MB. I simply couldn't get anything like that via ADSL on my local exchange.
