Hi all,

Previously I had the 20Mb broadband service and have recently converted to one of the VIP packages which should have given me 20mb broadband as well as the V+ box.

Last week for some reason Virgin disconnected me, I phoned them and two days later got reconnected woo hoo.... But now when I run speed tests I seem to be getting 1mb rather than 20mb I have run the tests at differnet times, but seem to be getting the same speed.. even getting to this website took a bit of time!

I have an NTL 250 modem, is there any way to find out what speed my modem has been configured to run at?

Thanks

Give their customer services a ring and make sure they have not put you down to 2meg by mistake, apparently this does happen sometimes!

Go to:

http://192.168.100.1

Login:
Username root
Password root

Operation Config:
Maximum Downstream Data Rate

If you're on 20Mb it will show 20480000.

When i go to that IP address I get the following....

Cable Modem : DOCSIS 1.0/1.1/2.0 Compliant
MAC Address : XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Serial Number : 0014A4B57B0E
Boot Code Version : 3.1.6d
Software Version : 2.94.1014
Hardware Version : 1.19

I also don't get a login dialogue...

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Had this problem myself. Just ring 150 concerning this, as they should be able to change it easily for you. They'll tell you that it will take a while for it to reach full speed, and it should, but you should notice a little change instantly :)

And if they refuse to do it, tell them you want to speak to their supervisor, because I done it myself on 150.

Hmmm that was simple NOT!!!!

I phoned 150 got through to C/Services they said I needed to speak to Tech support, so phoned tech support they said there software doesn't allow them to update my modem. They said phone C/Support.

Around the circle again so when I contacted Tech support again they said they would speak to C/Support as they were supposed to do it, after about 10 mins on the line she said that there was a problem with my account so C/Support needed to escalate and it would be done it 24 hours!!!!!! So still in 4mb at present.

Whats the betting it won't be fixed after 24 hours...

I have been put on the VIP package, because I now have V+ installed it's just the cable modem showing as 4mb instead of 20mb...... (still the same this morning)

Can you be clear as to what services you think you have and at what price?

The reason I ask is because having V+ installed does not necessarily make you a VIP customer.

I have asked for the VIP package which is £75 which is XL TV (with Sky Sports/movies) XL Broadband and XL Phone
