Hello,
I'm having some annoying troubles with ping. A server I connect to and normally have 20/30 lacenty has risen up to 60/70 ping, which make things a bit jumpy. Please don't reply wiht "At least you have better pings than us", because that is off topic. None of my friends have noted any change in ping.

I'm confused in how to run ping tests, but here's what I've done from the command prompt:

Some additional info to take to note aswell. My d/l speeds have just shot down for no reason to 8Mbps instead of 17Mbps. If someone could give a good complaints procedure, I will be happy :)

After months of very questionable speeds....and more importantly service ,our 20Mb has actually been ok,at all time this last couple of months

This is what caught my eye:

Tracing route to www.bbc.net.uk [212.58.251.207]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 4294967289 ms 5 ms 9 ms 10.122.164.1
2 7 ms 9 ms 4294967290 ms swan-t2cam1-a-v112.inet.ntl.com [80.0.254.89]

Some enormous variation in your first couple of local hops. I'd start by double-checking your cabling in the house to make sure nothing is damaged or loose since the first hop to the street cabinet is extremely erratic.

Hey guys,
I'm just checking for what might cause issues. Here's my modem config:

Downstream Receive Power Level : 12.6 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 40.8 dB
Downstream Modulation : QAM256

Upstream transmit Power Level : 33.0 dBmV
Upstream Modulation : QPSK

Are these levels okay? Or are these what possibly causes my ping issues and as the last poster said erractic movements.

I don't know why my 20MBps went down to 8MBps last night though :/

EDIT: Although Maidenhead is closer, it doesn't do the constant high speed as London does

Your power level is high. Just had mine adjusted to 0. I think the range is -3 to 11 with lower being better.
Hasn`t helped me much though lol
