formatted HD help getting connected

Just formatted my laptop, installed XP pro and I cannot connect to the internet, can anyone help please.

how are u connecting to the internet? modem or router?

does the laptop have a built in network card ? if so is it working (drivers installed?)
are you connecting via wireless at all?

Connected via a wired dlink router.

Last time I formatted Ihad to type in a ip address no and register the laptop with my account.

It's possible the laptop's network address has changed (192.168.1.xx), check the router is allowing the new address through.

Just checked on device manager and there is a ? on the ethernet controller, off to find the disc with the drivers on,
I report back in a bit.
