Hi all this is my first thread,

I have a problem which I could really do with help with.

I have a philips plasma 42" tv with a philips home theatre dvd ( HTS3357)

I also have the Virgin media v+ box

I am running my v+ box through the hdmi cable ( I have two ports in the back of my tv), my Question is how to I get audio through my philips home theatre via my v+ box, do I need a cable to my v+ box and my philips dvd?
I can plug my home theatre into hdmi port 2 in my tv but when I switch to port 1 which my v+ is connected I have Know sound, Im real stuck.
One more thing I no the v+ box has a optical port but my home theatre is coaxial digital, if that helps any

Could really do with your help, Thanks

yes I have audio L / R, the model for the tv is philips 42PFP5532D.

Someone said I could run a coaxial cable from my dvd home theatre with a spliiter and optical cable to my v+ box as the two devices use different cables but I havent a clue if it would work or not.
I am really after 5.1 surround sound and didnt know what sound quality id get from the dvd to tv with normal phono plugs, as you can see Im really lost on this one.

Connect the V+ to the TV with HDMI
Connect the DVD to the TV with another HDMI

Then

Connect the V+ to the DVD with standard two plug (red/white) phono cable. You can get them here http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1020&&source=14&doy=search OR HERE http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Twin-Phono-Hi-Fi-HIFI-PLUG-RCA-CABLE-LEAD-10m_W0QQitemZ370017097792QQihZ024QQcategoryZ116853 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Then select AUX on your DVD player for the sound from the V+ Box.

This will work for Stereo and Pro logic however if you would like digital and 5.1 (where available) you will need to by a converter so you can take the optical output from the V+ box to the digital coax input on your DVD. You can buy them here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Home-cinema-Surround-Optical-to-digital-Coax-converter_W0QQitemZ180210709170QQihZ008QQcategoryZ 152972QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
You will need to buy a optical cable and a coax cable for this set up too.

With that option in place you select DI on the DVD for the audio to come through.
