Hi, new to the forum and cable biz so pls bear with me.
I have a VM box in one room and BB/Modem in another. I understand and agree that to watch (different) TV in another room I have to hire a 2nd box but my question is: What if I only have and want to watch the free pckg/freeview on a PC? All I want to do is to record (free) TV programs on PC (which has a TV tuner that can take analogue cable tv btw and/or ariel). Is it possible to achieve this with a splitter a F to Coax plug cable?

Thanks! Cla

:welcome:

you may be able to currently tune in an analogue signal, with a VM connection, but that facility may soon be taken away - however if you mean true 'freeview', then that is available via an aerial, not cable :)

If it's regular 'freeview' you're looking for it maybe easier to consider one of the following:

USB TV Card:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Digital-Personal-Recorder-Laptop/dp/B000HWDBJ8/ref=sr_1_157?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1199839280&sr=1-157

Internal TV Card:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_ce/203-3084276-7851108?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=tv+card&Go.x=0&Go.y=0

Then simply plug a regular aeriel lead into the device, scan for channels and you should have access too freeview with a on-screen guide and the ability to record etc.

I've got one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hauppauge-NOVA-TD-Diversity-digital-freview/dp/B000N4LYH6/ref=pd_sbs_ce_4 for my laptop, it works perfectly fine. As does the: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hauppauge-WinTV-HVR1100-Analogue-freeview/dp/B000ANH01O/ref=pd_sbs_ce_2 I've got in the media center.

Thanks for the quick responses! I do have an Hauppauge HVR 3000 which can take both aeriel and cable but I don't have an aeriel point where the PC is. So I was trying to get around this by using the cable but if analogue is the only thing I can get through a VM cable without a box and that's going :td: soon I think I'd probably better off investing some money into an internal aeriel. I'll browse around to see if I can find any good one unless you already know one that works well! Thanks again. ;) Cla
