Trying to understand the use of splitters here. If i was to run a 2way splitter on the coax behind my modem. The signal levels for the modem would be wrong wouldnt they?, Like half of what they were?
Thanks

Correct. In fact a bit less than half, because there are extra losses in the splitter and the connections.

Cool so i have to get a booster of some kind? What do these powerpass splitters do?
Thanks for the quick reply mate.

Sounds like you are not qualified to make these changes to your Virgin Media cable installation. What are you actually trying to achieve?

Nothing im just learning on these things. But thats correct isnt it, i would have to power the signal levels up again if they are split?

Not necessarily, as the signal in may be high enough already and may well be padded down with an attenuator, but you do really need a signal level meter to establish the correct levels, as for boosting the signal its just as easy to overdrive the signal as have too little.

You will lose 3.5dB by using a splitter

It should tell you the expected signal loss on the splitter somewhere(they arent all 3.5db)
