Can I connect the cable modem to the TV outlet. I no longer have cable TV but I would like to relocate my cable modem downstairs (to the other socket).

Is this possible or are they totally seperate?

just found this thread, and i didnt want to make another - i have a bit of a problem with the layout of my flat.... and i wish to move my modem to my sitting room. Now, in the sitting room there is just my V+ box and nothing else.... more to the point, I have no other boxes in the flat (even though I subscribe to vip. I have no space for a second tv as I dont need to watch tv in the bedroom!

So my question is this, If i buy and install a splitter i understand that there is a signal loss of 3.5 DB (from reading here). In theory is this an issue?

In theory you shouldn't attach any splitter only VM should

Also Virgin will only fix equipment for free that they have installed so if you put a splitter in, and either your broadband and/or V+ box stops working, you are on your own (unless you remove the splitter again of course)
