How noisy should it be?

My V+ box was installed yesterday and for the most part it is great, but it is rather noisy. When the TV is on and I am watching we can still hear a hum although it is not too bad. When the box is on standby the hum disappears after a couple of minutes.

When the TV guide is shown an additional crackle is also audible. Is this normal or do I have a duff box?

I'm sure this has been addressed before on the forum and I took the advice given then - stick felt pads on the four feet. I did this and there's no noise at all from my V+ box any more.
