View Full Version : the cable modem is not working after 2 weeks
Hi, I just had verigin bb for 2 weeks, and last night after i tried to share another PC with a new wireless router(Buffalo AirStation 125Mbps Wireless CableDSL Router), The modem itself is not working now, even when it's only directly connected to PC. nomatter how many times I restart PC and Modems. I got the ip address 192.168.100.1 for the modem and 192.168.100.11 for PC. It seems the modem can not obtain the public IP address ( before it was 80.XX.XXX.XX something like this) anymore. and I am not sure it the lights indicate the problem, but i forget what they were like when modem was woking properly. Now they are:
Ready: Flashing
Sysch: Solid Green.
Send: Flashing every occasionally.
Recieve: Never on
Ether: Solida Green.
Please anybody help.

The flashing ready light indicates the problem is between the modem and Virgin Media's network. It's probably related to the National Netork Outage thread.
If all was well previously, I think you were just unlucky that you tried to setup the shares as the broadband died. I'd let things have a good chance to settle down now, as continually rebooting the modem to try and solve the problem could ini fact compound issues making settings worse as the network is struggling to restore. At this time revert to your known good setup of modem to PC. Reboot once, and walk away for a few hours. If things haven't restored by later today then call faults in case somethign did screw up in the modem.
