I wonder if anyone knows if I am able to obtain details of someone who was in court this week, I am iterested in finding out what charges are being brought against them.

The problem is I do not know which court h was in but I was told he was in Crown Court for Motoring Offences !!!

I believe the offences were more likely to be supplying drugs, bankrupcy or serious fraud, the motoring related may be due to the vehicle being fraudulantly obtained. and having no insurance. I wondered if there was any way apart from keeping an eye on the local news papers.

I had a quick search around the court websites but have had no luck, as the court is open to the public I would of thought this information should be easy to obtain.

Is there anywhere to obtain this type of information?

Thanks in advance

I'm sure there must be, because a local paper nearby names and shames local criminals as and whent hey appear in the magistrates court. It also prints their sentences lol - great idea :D

We used to have a 'Who's been in court' section, but that has dissapeared I guess because a lot of the small crimes are now common day occurances.

I am surprised that I have not been able to find this info on the web because the public can attend court and find out for themselves. I know reporters from newspapers attend court and report but I'm not sure if they have access to any records.

I am able to find daily cases listed for Bankrupcy courts, but not for criminal courts so far.

How about this: http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/

When I did Jury Service a few years ago, I'm sure I found a site with upcoming hearings...
I'll see if I can dig out the link...

Easiest way is to find out which day the court is due to start for that person and go sit in public gallary - You will then hear the case against the defendant.

I did Jury service a couple of weeks ago

The press get the same info by sitting in the press box

The link above or http://www.courtnews1.co.uk/courtlists/current/indexdailies.htm
will give you the cases in which court rooom that date or tomorrow
They also print them at the court reception

That one looks very interesting, pity I didn't know about it yesterday. It gives names of people in court for each day and lists the cases for the next day but unfortunately it didn't seem to indicate the charges.

I'm not sure about registering for archive info as it looks like it's only intended for people in the legal profession.

Unfortunately I didn't hear until last night, and he was apparently in court yesterday. I provided some info that was hopefully used against him if he was in court for fraud, but unfortunately due to the nature of how I obtained the info and how I passed it on I was not in a position to be informed about any upcoming case.
