In the Notts NG17 area?

Turned on my PC about midday and noticed my 4mb connection was going at between 600-800kbps according to Newsbin, the speedtest on this site showed 0.8mbps.

Removed the router and plugged modem straight into the PC then rebooted the modem and PC and got the same result. Plugged the router back in and rebooted and noticed the speed was creeping back up. As of now I'm getting about 3.5mbps in Newsbin, usually get 3.8mbps constant.

Just wondering if this is a 'glitch' as my 4mb connection is usually rock solid!

Test 3: 1024K took 154342 ms = 6.6 KB/sec, approx 54 Kbps, 0.05 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 20429 ms = 100.3 KB/sec, approx 826 Kbps, 0.81 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 642 Kbps, 0.63 Mbps

Strangely, newsgroups speed seems to initially hit 3.5mbps and then drops to around 2.5mbps but the speedtest seems wrong? There's definitely something wrong with the speed as I'm downloading this:

at about 185kb/s, should be around 495kb/s ish if it was OK!!

Connection back to normal today, no idea what the problem was but must have been a local issue during Sunday which has resolved itself.
