After experiencing slow speeds on the 20mb service (3mb) I checked out my modem status report and got the following..

Downstream Lock : Locked
Downstream Channel Id : 1
Downstream Frequency : 586750000 Hz
Downstream Modulation : QAM64
Downstream Symbol Rate : 6952 Ksym/sec
Downstream Interleave Depth : taps12Increment17
Downstream Receive Power Level : -2.8 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 34.6 dB

Upstream Lock : Locked
Upstream Channel ID : 3
Upstream Frequency : 22000000 Hz
Upstream Modulation : QPSK
Upstream Symbol Rate : 2560 Ksym/sec
Upstream transmit Power Level : 50.5 dBmV
Upstream Mini-Slot Size : 2

By the looks of it, the Upstream transmit Power Level is a little high, am I right? Or could there be another explaination for the slow speeds I'm experiencing right now - I'm on the baguley network.

Thanks

Michael

Your power levels are fine, the upstream transmit is fine, you should be concerned when it goes over 55. So it must be network congestion/over subscription. ;)

What's ideal then?

yeah, thats all the speed Im getting at the moment, but my levels are within range.

Everyone knows how rubbish the 20Mb servers are, I spent over half hour on the phone to an ENGLISH woman that was telling me her's was appaling too!

Can anyone else on the Baguley network confirm wether it's just me?

This is the first time I've ever experienced this quality of service from VM..back when it was 10mb, all was pretty good.

Oh God..when everybody else was experiencing bad speeds..here on the baguley network everything was fine..I never thought it would become a reality, but now it looks like it has. :(
