Hello I'm just wondering what the upload cap is for the XL package? I often upload backups onto the internet, and I currently get around 40kB/s. This is around 384kbps. I read on the internet that it's the same for the 20mb package, but could a 20mb package owner run a test and let me know what the true cap is? Many thanks!

There is no cap on any VM broadband package.

The Upload speed for the XL is 756kbps. AFAIK upload isn't subject to STM (http://abcde.co.uk/virginmedia/stm.html) (although it's rumoured there are trials in some areas)

Ah I sense a difference in a cap and shaping? I apologise, I thought a cap meant a limit to the speed! So the speed is 756kbps, thank you!

AFAIK upload is normally 768Kbps, but if STM kicks in, due to downloading too much, then your upload is also affected and goes down to 256Kbps.

Which equates to a measley 32KB/s!!

God, ya get a higher upload speed after you have gone over the upload threshold!

VM are getting worse & worse, and I can see them going bankrupt, because they are greedy b******s, they pocket ALL the profits for the fat cats that just sit on their fat asses all day planning on how best to rip their customers off, but will they upgrade their equipment?? will they ****!!!!

I am sick and fed up to the back teeth with these ******s, if I could get my hands on them Id bloody choke the ***** to death!!!

Upload speed IMHO is almost as important as download. With the increasing online storage being released by BT and such likes, n00bs are expecting things to go quickly. 8kB/s is nothing people are going to be too pleased with. In addition, P2P users are very likely to find other service providers, and it's all down to the fact the big names refuse to update their infrastructure.
