Ever since VM took over Ive been having terrible speeds, I usually get full speeds from 12am - 7am after that though I used to get terrible speeds as low as 1 Meg, could hardly use the Internet on Sundays.
This morning though my cable modem wasn't receiving an IP so I rebooted it and I saw that the firmware had been updated and my MAC address authorized..
Would this be anything to with the new firmware that had been updated on my modem? I find it hard to believe that I'm receiving full speed throughout today (For the first time ever!) just because of a firmware update?

This is the first chance i`ve had to check mine any earlier than about 3PM since our alleged "work" a couple of days ago but it`s not quite as high as the 16-18Mb it was then.
That was obviously before the rush hours of course:rolleyes:
Even though our speed has seemingly improved overall though we`re still getting the typically bad speeds during the hours that really matter it seems.
Not STM...just bad speeds.

Same here, I also got a new firmware update last night and speeds seem better.
how do u know if the firmware updated?
coz i just argued with VM to cancle my 12 month contract for free and they did it, it will happen in 30 days
they said they cant provide me waht they said they would, and are problem in the area wont be fixed in a long time
i am now getting these speeds how ever it is onl 1:30 so i will wait till 8 9 and 10 to test again

Sometime the speedtest on this site is a little wavey. 80% its ok
I generally run three different ones
I always found this one to be pretty solid anytime of the day: http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/
Try that and post your result

We`ve been the same ourselves for weeks now Sirus.
It`s just these last few days since the modem updates and/or alleged work in our own area(Lewi1) that things seeeem to be on the up.I`m certainly not holding my breath.
It`s already on it`s way down as the people start getting up out of bed and switching on the computers.I`m quite sure we`ll soon be averaging out at STB speeds before long. Our 1Mb STB that is:erm:

And all of a sudden I'm back to below dial up speeds with constant drops in connection. Goodbye VM, BE broadband sure is looking good right now.
Well this is what i got a 12pm today. Its been 'fixed' for exactly a week now and it seems ok. But i've noticed that google is sometimes slow to load, webpages are stuttery on loading images and i sometimes need to refresh the page!! Speed results from:
