View Full Version : NN15 down - 4Mb to 10Mb upgrade?

Couldn't get on tinternet at all last night and on fault line they said NN15 area was down. Anyway I then looked on my Modem Confifuration and it said that my upload was 10420000 and download 64000. Does this look look the beginning of the rumoured 4 Mb to 10Mb upgrade. Coincidentally, I was on the phone to customer services yesterday and as an aside, without me asking, she said that the upgrade would be happening before Christmas. Finally, and if this is the upgrade, is 64000 correct?

Thanks

@parkie: use http://192.168.100.1/ for your SB4100, I've got the same modem!

I'm in Kettering - it's still down - that is 3 days now!!!

The help line says it is NN14 region but I am NN15. Is the region a rough indication or should I be concerned?

Markly Darkly the info on the config page on your modem would tell me that your modem has not been registered .As this is what unconfig modems have on the config page :)

Thanks Ned Kelly - do you mean that there is a problem with my account or that the area outage will have caused that. This modem has been registered and in use for 3 years, so how would it suddenly change?

Thanks

The best thing is to call them:D As you could of had the modem cloned and took off the system or that the system has removed the modem from the account .The modem is like a new modem waiting to be put on a account thats how we know if the modem is on a account by looking at the info :) Tell them this when you call and give them the ip address as the would also tell them thant the modem is not configured:)

I'm also in Kettering(NN15 post code) and I've not seen a problem (famous last words) yet. Still says 4mb on the config page too.

The config should be 10240000 download if you've been upgraded. Like others have said there's something not right with your config file.

Sorry - my mistake - it is 10240000 - does that make a difference, ie does that mean it still could be an area fault?

If your upstream is 64000 then the modem is not reg with VM and will not work .As for the 4 to 10 mb upgrade i have not heared of anything happing yet .The upstream for 10 meg was 512000 when i had it .:) Markly have you called vm yet ? i would love to know what thet have said

Hi NedKelly

OK - called VM. Went the Customer Sevices route not Technical faults and spoke to an incredibly helpful lady called Gail who said that it was down to my two accounts being merged on Monday. Even though it was my TV account that got moved onto my Telephone/Broadband account, they had managed to kill off my Broadband account!!

Anyway - she apologised, gave me £5 credit and said that it will be restored by the end of the day. I wait with baited breath of course and be as optimistic as I can. I asked if that will have lost my e-mail address and she said she would restore that as well - again I wait with baited breath.

Once again, though customers services were as helpful as they could be and the lady there was very polite and knowledgable so I was most impressed.
Will have to wait till I get home this evening to see how it went.

Hi Doc Dutch

I think the NN14 being down was just a coincidence and mine was an account cock up. But alls well that ends well

OK - a follow up. Yes I can log onto my e-mail account from Thunderbird, but can't log onto webmail on Virgin site. Also if I go to the upgrade page or the "forgotten your pasword" page, it does not recognise my user name.

What has happened here then?
