Like many others I've put in few posts about the poor performance of my 20Mb VM "broadband" of late, I've taken the matter one step further seeing as VM aren't interested in resolving it.
I have contacted my local Trading Standards (http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/consumers/consumers.cfm) office who agree that from my description of events, that VM are not providing the service I am paying for.
Using VM's own words with my comments in ()...
my service is not "Super Fast" (sub 400kbs is not)
my service is not "Reliable" (poor DL affecting latency)
my service is not "Unlimited" (unlimited means unconditional, which this is not)
Using a small extract from the TS website which basically states...
Basic rights - The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982
When work is carried out by a trader you can expect it to be done:
with reasonable care and skill;
in a reasonable time (if there is no specific time agreed); and
for a reasonable charge (if no fixed price was set in advance).Any goods or parts fitted as part of the contract must be:
of satisfactory quality;
fit for their purpose; and
as described (see our leaflet: 'Buying goods' for more details.)The last 3 items definitely DO NOT apply to my VM service of the last few weeks, so if you have been experiencing similar issues, then make sure you register your complaint with your local TS office to try and help us all get things sorted out.
In addition you can also register a complaint with the Communications & Internet Services Adjudication Scheme (http://www.cisas.org.uk/) of which VM is a member.
