Hello
Im switching over to a Mac running OS 10.5 leopard, will I be able to use my original CD-Rom provided by NTL several years ago? If not where do I get a more up to date one? Also will I have any problems publishing websites up to the NTL server, using iWeb08?
Thanks for reading

If you use Ethernet, just stick the Ethernet cable in and you're running.

If you connect with USB, it might work itself. Not sure if the CD has a Mac installer, but I'm sure you can get one off the Virgin website (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

No USB support for Mac.
Drivers can be found here http://help2.virginmedia.com/help/getContent.jspx?page=h_broadband_latestusbdrivers

Just go with patch cable :)

If you use ethernet its simply a case of plugging in the cable and it will work.

I just recently switched to a new iMac and thats exactly what I did and it worked without any problems.

thank you. I understand, but what will this achieve? Is this asking the Mac to look at that IP address, which happens to be me my own?

Only required if the modem is newly installed. As the OP already has a service there won't be a need to register so this is not needed.

If connecting via a Set Top Box broadband then there would be a registration process (need the PID and password originally issued to customer). But you should get auto directed to the registration screen for that, on first use of the new computer trying to use the internet.

Only required if the modem is newly installed.

Also, it's only for ex-ntl areas. Yes, we really should be using one system by now, but having some experience of that area, it's not quite as easy as you think.

Hi
You dont need to re-register the modem (using the 80.5.178etc)
if its working already.

Just reboot the modem
and plug it in to the ethernet on your mac.

Thats it
:)
it will work
(unless you have disabled the network socket, or have software blocking internet access)
