I got tired of trying to get a new box from VM, so purchased the samsung as an update to my old Pace box. However its not straightforward it seems to set up. I've plugged in etc using the supplied paired card but get error code Ld30. Wondered if i need to set up the default frequency on the stb which is currently 643 000? Does anyone know what that should be as i cant find the info from my old Pace box? Also, is there anything else that i need to set?

Did you purchase this box of EBay or something like that, or did you order one from Virgin, if not, then you are violating terms of service.

Right, it probably needs registering on the cable network. I can sort out that frequency for you now though. Are you ex-ntl or ex-telewest?

PS - Give CS a call to activate your STB.

ex-ntl, not sure if the region make much difference. I think there's a default frequency and also a Channel Frequency setting. Whether i need both i'm not sure

It does make a difference :)

Would you know whether your network used to be owned by Cable and Wireless? If not, it isnt a huge problem.

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/cmtips/signal.html << try Upstream and Downstream channels, that might help.

I have a feeling it used to be C+W yes, as when we lived on the other side of town, our original analogue service was with them

You can only legally connect Set Top Boxes to the Virgin Media network that are supplied by them as part of your subscription. Connecting any Set Top box acquired by any other means is against the terms of use of Virgin Media. This forum will not permit discussion as to how to connect non subscription boxes.

If your current STB supplied by VM is faulty, it should be replaced by VM.

On that basis the thread is now closed.
