Speed Issue?

:)Just a quick one concerning BB speed. I have the XL package 20mb and I have never had full speed (well you know what I mean ). I have done the usual speed checks (dl tests) and other speedtests, and it never goes above 2mb... my average dl speed is 194kbps, now heres the wierd thing...

My modem reports that it is configured for 20mb.. and when i plug my machine directly in to the router I get a speedtest of 13mb...BUT when i put my network back together it drops to the 1-2mb speed...???

I cannot work out why, my router is a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 which i brought to replace my old DLINK which could not handle the 20mb... Can someone please shed some light on this.... as im starting to go mad!!

I have run the tests before and after the shaping times to be sure im not being capped

Have just flashed router to DD-WRT firmware and speed has increased to around 2mb... so slight improvement.

If i post my modem configs could someone please tell me if they are correct...

I just did a test on Thinkbroadband and it came in at 14.2mb!!!

Then did the gamefiles.blueyonder.co.uk test and was averaging 1.78mbps!

I cannot believe that just flashing the bloody router sorted it and i specfically brought this one because it was rated so highly!... argggh!
