We'll be hearing next that the original owner only intended to donate the bag, and now wants the book back

when I volunteered in a charity shop, we'd get loads of old books, but they had to be thrown away as there just wasn't the storage space.. no one would actually buy them off the shelf if they looked old! And oxfam have specialist book shops and staff, there were only three of us!

The book, which dates back to 1898, was discovered at the branch of Oxfam in Nantwich, South Cheshire - appropriately inside a handbag.

A handbag?

A handbag?

Yes, you know, the thing a woman hangs on her arm that contains every item that might be required on a shopping trip. Funnily enough, my wife's handbag never seems to contain any money - not when I'm out shopping with her, anyway.
