I had VM broadband installed yesterday and finally got it working after a couple of hours 'phone calls to Customer Services and India!

I still have one problem remaining - my username and password won't allow me to log onto the VM web site or register the PCGuard software. It says unrecognised.

I am assuming that the username and password required are the same as the ones given to me as primary email account and web address?

I CAN log into my email on line with the details given and also via Outlook etc, but NOT anything to do with my account management or login. I can also log into ftp with the same UN and PW.

I rang CS, but they hadn't a clue. One of them suggested I use the username which I signed up with (my surname in lower case) but of course that doesn't work as it doesn't have a password to go with it.

Download speed on 4Mb service is 3.8Mb - so very pleased with that.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers,

Ray D

If you can log into your online e mail then your password and username are correct. The best way to get PC gaurd is to log into selfcare using the original password and username and download it from there. Can you log into Selfcare?

I can and download PCGuard and install it, but I can't run it as it asks for my username and password to register it the first time it's run. That's when it won't accept my UN and PW.

Also, if I try and log into www.virginmedia.com in the little box top right of the page, that rejects my UN and PW as well.

It seems thare's two different servers accessible by username and password - the email and ftp one is fine, the VM website and PCHuard registration isn't.

Cheers,

Ray D

If you log into selfcare and download it from there you will automatically be registerd for PC guard . There will be no need to register it again. The problem with the site is probably related to broadband extras. Is that what your trying to log into? Before you do anything see if you can log into selfcare.

How do I find Selfcare? Do you have a url for PCGuard there?

Many thanks,

What is so special about PC Guard?

 Never seen a post saying it's better than any other option available and I don't use it personally.

Lots of other options are discussed in the Security & Virus Discussion threads.

I beta test the core components for Radialpoint themselves, and I have to say, the packages that they license off for use (Command AV and I think its Pest Patrol but Im not sure, as well as some other stuff) kick other products well.

I also think that they are a bit lighter on CPU.

My say on the matter is if you are using Kapersky for av/as (or Steganos/F-Secure), and a decent firewall like Zone Alarm, then there should be no need to switch (unless you want to get some more money). If your using stuff like Norton or OneCare, I would switch to PCGuard, as the virus detection is better, its free and you get some added stuff in the bundle (I think, I certainly did on the beta kit).

But at the end of the day, its personal opinion (n.b. kill the splash screen with splashscreenkiller (see majorgeeks) ;)

NOTE: If you have problems with PC Guard, you could try the Radialpoint forums at http://www.radialpoint.net
