Remember in the good ole days, 3.5p for a real unlimited call off-peak to your other cable friends, having no worries about having to hang up after 59 minutes. I bet a few of you remember how it felt to see that 2 hour call at next to nothing :)

Slowly but surely, the local cable feel has vanished. We no longer are able to have cable to cable calls, they are all just classed as "calls".

There are many many company's that offer calls between customers in that company, even during the day calls. I reckon VM should introduce such a thing that we can call cable to cable customers within the UK for free, or even the damned connection charge.

Swap your line back to BT, and use overrider’s like 1899 (http://www.call1899.co.uk/rates.php). There connection charge is 5p and landline calls are FREE including weekday daytime.

If you use the phone more than just a little there are so many talktime type packages that just being limited to cable only would be too restrictive to have value. Ultimately free cable to cable calls have been superceeded.

What can people talk about on the phone for over an hour? (not including teenagers in this, as I used to have to forcefully remove the phone from my daughter, who seemed to be able to say "Oh my God!" and "Nooooo!" for an hour).

People aren't getting the idea of what I was suggesting.. I dont wish to use another service, or software as I know about them all. I was mearly reminiscing and wondering if they would do it like the old days :)

But that was when Cable was local franchises, and there would be no Interconnect charges.

There should be no interconnect charges with on net calls either surely?

Either way VM are FAR to expencive for calls these days - even with their call packages.

1899 or Vonage would be much cheaper. :)

Don't forget that every call you ever make is kept on a list somewhere except those on skype.
Spooky
