A lot of errors and warnings in the event log of the modem can mean nothing, as the modems are built to certain standards, ie, docsis/eurodocsis, most of them mean VM don't implement the settings that the modem is looking for, basically, if your connection is "connecting" then it is usually fine.

whenever the Motorola modem connects, it's constantly checking the Motorola update page for internal software (Firmware) updates.
Because we have locked this modem down as it's property of Virgin Media, it will be unable to update it's firmware and so on, hence the errors.
