Wonder if anyone can help...

I'm occasionally getting the message:

"Unable to locate the server named "www.xxxxxxxxxxx.com" --- the server does not have a DNS entry. Perhaps there is a misspelling in the server name, or the server no longer exists. Double-check the name and try again."

However, this only comes up on my desktop machine - my laptop and other machines seem to be OK in picking up the sites.

Any clues as to what's going on? My machine is a Dell PC, running Windows XP and using Firefox.

Using IE, I get the following message:

The website cannot display the page

HTTP 500 Most likely causes:

The website is under maintenance.
The website has a programming error.

Jings - that's big type...

Is it machine settings and if so, how do I change them?

Thanks

Ken

You can change the way your posts look from your user cp/settings. The forum default does the trick for me.

Are you using a proxy? They were supposed to have been turned off. I haven't used one for a while and have had problems with pages not loading etc. I started to use OpenDNS and found it helped. Yesterday, for the purpose of proving a point, I tried to specify a proxy and to my surprise I found I could still use one of the Northampton servers AND my http throughput sems to be a tad better.

Give it a try, maybe it will help you? :)
