The SSC (Shelby Supercars) Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo has taken the world's fastest production car record by averaging 255.83 mph (http://www.fast-autos.net/news/129/) on a closed public road... :Yikes:

Video here (http://www.shelbysupercars.com/multimedia.php#worldrecord), love the sound of that engine :)

They're not connected in any way to Carol Shelby of Shelby Cobra fame...

Was expecting another modified Viper or Stang but it's actually a very nice looking motor.

And according to the test driver, there is "tonnes left on the table" if anyone challenges the 255mph attained during testing. Wow

183 mph to go 3.11 mph faster than the Veyron.

I guess this might prompt Bugatti/VW to get theirs out on a proper speed run.

Nice car, reminds me of a cross between a Lambo and the Dodge from the film 'The Wraith'.

The Veyron still does it for me though.

Do you mean 183 hp? ;)

I suppose Top Gear will have to come up with some new "stunts" now that their favourite Veyron is no longer king of the road.

Saw one in the flesh at Goodwood, it was in probably the priciest traffic jam you`ll ever see, there was a Zonda and a Koenigsegg (plus your Lambo`s and Ferrari`s) behind it ;)
